THE DENIER OF OPAQUE TIGHTS
The tights denier relates to the transparency and how thick tights are. Deniers can range from 5-100, with sheer tights occupying the low end of the spectrum. Opaque tights can be identified by a denier that is at least over 50. A higher opacity means that your tights will be thicker and less see-through. If a semi-opaque look is what you’re after, then check out tights in a range of 30-40.
SHEER OR OPAQUE TIGHTS
Sheer and opaque tights are both closet essentials. Perfect for varying occasions, Calzedonia’s tights have you and your legs covered. Sheer tights are preferred for warmer weather and elegant events. Alternatively, thermal tights in materials such as cashmere are perfect for winter days. A benefit of opaque tights is that their tighter weave means that they are less prone to snags and runs, something to which the delicacy of sheer tights is not immune.
WHEN TO WEAR
Black opaque tights can be worn seamlessly at almost any occasion. Their lack of transparency means that they are appropriate for informal as well as formal occasions, such as heading into the office. As a rule of thumb, the shorter your hemline the more opaque your tights should be. This will help maintain the balance of chic sophistication in all your outfits. When wearing tights, it is also preferable to wear closed-toe shoes, whether they are heels or flats.
Our opaque tights come in a variety of dark shades, ranging from reds to browns to blacks. For foolproof colour matching, use your shoes or the predominant colour in your outfit to decide which tights to wear. To experiment with your style, try layering fishnets over the top of colourful tights to create a fun and individual look.
